Eons of Discord....... Ok i have another idea i stuck up in a conversation with tino, dark rose, and noble lumpkin. Idea: You know how there are good and evil sides i say that the good and evil side be seperated to differnt factions and put in differnt cities. I say that we make it so that there are the evil lands and the good lands make areas be in the good lands and areas be in the evil lands. Make the clan halls into cities so that they are like the capitals of the lands. And make shandalar a neutral zone dominated by the neutral. Faction: After you make your character you go to the expansion checker. I say after that you go to the faction setup and make it so when your there you pick a faction and you start in there lands. Upgrade: You would be able to upgrade the city of your faction. And chimeara would be able to upgrade shandalar as they see fit. Maybe even make it so you can put goons patroling your lands and they would attack shout out warnings for others to leave the lands before they are attacked and if they dont leave by like so many warnings they are attacked. In doing this there would need to be more areas added and stuff moved around. This is just an idea. Now if tino reads this and i forgot anything that we discussed add it in...

But i forgot it add that the dms of eachclan wuld rule over th lands of heir respected clan; eclipse dm would rule over good lands, kinred dm would rules over evil lands, etc.

EoD was a server a couple years back, a damn good one at that. However it did not last long due to arguments between the 2 main creators. The server died just when it was really taking off. It had everything you described, it also gave evil alignment changes for killing good city guards, and vice versa.

Wasn't the server called AoD (Aeons of Discord)
But anyway, the server had lots of great ideas that were implemented really nicely (and I remember it also had a great automatic reboot system that remembered the hp/spells/location of not only players, but mobs too - meaning that if you were fighting a boss and the server rebooted you were able to pick things up where you left em)
And if you changed your allingment, your starting/recalling city changed too

You're right it was Aeons not Eons, different spelling, same meaning. Another cool thing they had was a script that read your alignment, and good or evil guards attacked, ignored, or helped you based on your alignment. That combined with the standard faction scripts meant you could have good, evil and nuetral guards all attacking you if you had pissed them all off since the last reset. You know, I always thought it would be cool if we had some kind of "other plane of exsistance" Like the shadow plane or something. I guess we have "Run away Planes" and a lot of other funky stuff. Anyone got any bright ideas?

okay, planes of esistance, i love it..........
u know that oll trick that DMs in D&D use to get things done fast "a magic portal opens in front of you, what do u do" of course the DM wants u to go in so he can get the party back together or make it easier for flow of game....
now that that's said, i think i have an idea of how to make a lil fun happen (please note that i have no scripting experience and no idea if it will work). I am proposing that a set of "planes" be in plimented into the game. Portals randomly opening in diff areas. the ports would lead to areas that u couldn't get to except on random "luck". the areas that the port lead to should courspond to the area that it spawned in, i.e. if ur in cyrics the mobs should be no thougher then the ones found there, this will help less death in planes. If you die in "planes" then the char is ported back to recall w/ all his/her gear. the planes don't have to contain mobs at all, they could juss be a field w/ an npc that tells of a craft. The place could be filled w/ a million single gold pieces........what i'm saying is, the planes random portals should be the oddest thing you can think of. the odder the better.........sharky plane, were everything is water based and you take water damage due to being under water.......who knows, throw some things out there folks

hehehehe along with that good stuff, heres what I had in mind. I was thinking it would be fun to implement a city or two of a different plane. Awesome reference is the Planar Handbook, you can check it out here fmga.lan-slam.com/d&d/filesandstuff/ebooks/Planar%20Handbook.pdfon page 141 and ones near it, it talks about city's like Sigil. The city of doors "or portals" which is hard to get into and out of ;D It's also a normal city. But it's a pain to get to and a pain to leave. The Shadow Plane for those who don't know, is a twisted version of the material plane. So image a Shandy that is dark and where Cuervo is a drunk who hates his life. Shandy could be in ruins. But in both events everything is obviously Dark. My roommates explained to me what when a mage casts darkness, he literally pulls the darkness off the shadow plane. And when a shadow dance shadow steps he uses the shadow plane in some weird funky way. In real D&D a shadow dancer can shadow jump and in that he enters and exits the shadow plane. Actually the DMG gives better explanations of planes then the Planar Handbook, oddly enough. If you wanna check it out the website is fmga.lan-slam.com/d&d/filesandstuff/ebooks/Dungeon%20Master's%20Guide%20-%203.5E.pdf and the page you want is 152. As with Tino, I have little building experience. I can build the areas, I just don't know a blumen thing about coding. So that would have to be handled by someone else. =P Thats my two cents. PS My DM (aka my roommate) sent us to a water plane, and to survive we had to get either a bottle of air or gills. Also flippers gave us freedom of movement in the water. etc.

I've been sent to the water planes b4 and our DM actualy had a few items that made us able to breath under water, ring of water breathing, mask of gills, etc. he realy though his crap out.........nice nice nice cudows to ajjin ;D

Nuff talk.. more action! Your ideas ROCK! (old time AD&D players make the BEST builders IMHO- who remembers Trouble In Tragedore! lol) I open the floor to any builders!! ;D Email me your building areas. I don't care if you gots no scripting background or coding whatchmacallit stuff... just send me your builds. (I personally ALWAYS wanted to build Babba Yaggas Hut!). I can fine tune them, add the code and assist in implementing if it cuts the mustard (or cheese, depending upon your point of view). My email is attached to my profile, so send away!

Its all good. This is a standing invitation. Want to see others toiling in yout areas? Want your ideas to come to life? Send them to me (in a self addressed stamped envelope ) and I will attempt to work with you to make it a reality. I am suggesting that if you want to see some of these things implemented, make a little effort to try and build something and send it. I am by no means discriminent however, and will always welcome written ideas such as in this thread, but those will take longer to work since you'd be leaving the entire building to me (or other DM's).

Ok, since this is an area suggestions thread and the previous one (poll) was moved to a more appropriate place, I have a suggestion.
The new Ragnarok areas: I think they are good. The mobs are tough, not too tough but VERY tough. A few changes would make this build a great one. I would suggest the following:
The areas are quite plain. Just the Dojo areas looks decent. The areas leading to it however need some flair, ambiance and sounds.
There is no hook. What is the deal with this Ragnarock and his shriners. What is my motivation?
The maps are all off. I walk towards the Dojo and am heading South. I arrive at the area to the Dojo (on the hill) and I am facing North.
Placement of goons is all off. Seems they are just standing around in no particular fashion other than to just be there. In some instances there is just one, then all of a sudden there is like 5 in some weird place.
