so I guess we're calling it quits on pvm? no more leveling, and especially not in parties? seems like all the spells that have remained useful in pvm after many "pvp-balance" nerfs, got the stick this time. so, spells that are good in pvp, are nerfed, and now spells that are good in pvm are nerfed too (and god forbid anyone should own a +4 item cause we all know those open UNLIMITED POWER. so what remains of a once high magic world? not much except shadows and memories). I guess since all that's left to do is pvp, we'll all be getting 780k xp at char creation? no? then how about a lvl per pvp kill? not that either? so in reality all that we're getting is the option to grind at (charlvl - 5) areas for 4xp per kill till coma occurs? awesome, I cant wait to grind for 7 months to reach that lvl40, so that I may finally enjoy this oh so finely balanced pvp........
[glow=red,2,300]The new items are more powerful than prewipe, the issue to this point has been that crafting was not in place, and neither were bosses. Non boss and non crafted items have always been weak, post wipe the craft and boss items are considerably more powerful, they just haven't reached players hands yet.[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]As for spell changes, perhaps you did not notice the changes prewipe, but a great deal of spells were nerfed before. Upon the wipe nearly all spells breifly returned to base nwn scripts and as such got a big boost. Those boosts are being dropped back down in cases of spells that are uber in PvP, and spells that are commonly overpowered in terms of easy abuse of the artificial intelligence.[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Leveling....I am completely lost on your complaint here. XP has doubled since prewipe, and party leveling has been extended to allow larger parties and parties with bigger gaps in level range. This is not to mention the fact that you get free level boost in the nebie dungeon/castle. Leveing now is by far the easiest it has ever been on RD. [/glow]
end of pissed-off preface. might sound like an exaggeration now but give it a month or two.
- greater ruin: something is wrong with it. if that's really 1d20 dmg per half of caster level then that's 80d20 for a lvl40 caster which is way overpowered. I guess its supposed to be 1d20 dmg per 2 caster lvls, in which case the 20d20 dmg for a lvl40 caster is way underpowered.
[glow=red,2,300]I think this one is worded wrong, and you are correct it is set at 1d20 per 2 caster levels.[/glow]
- wail (preface refers to it too): what the hell? 10 targets at lvl40? the radius isnt that big either. this wasnt an overpowered spell to begin with, it doesnt deserver such a nerf. if I understand that correctly, it affect everyone in radius, and kills those that fail their save but not more than 10 of them? if this is supposed to be a pvp balance issue I really dont know where you'd find 10+ players in such a small area, its hard enough to find 10+ players on the whole server.
[glow=red,2,300]I can't beleive for a second that you can honestly say this was not overpowered. In the elemental canyons this was a freeby for arcane casters to jump 10 levels in a couple hours.[/glow]
- storm of vengeance (preface refers to it too): I've said pretty much everything already at wail and in the preface, and in the previous topic. unnecessary nerf to say the least. the way it was before the wipe was fine.
also, when people said "buff druids" then didnt mean "nerf them a bit less than other classes"
- weird/wail/sov: does the "affect everyone in area except caster and those within 5 feet of the caster" mean that a party member who is 6 feet from the caster will get affected too? meaning pretty much any casting will result in party member deaths and KFs on yourself, bringing the end to party leveling (the preface doesnt seem such an exaggeration now anymore). then what's the point of raising the xp cap to 600 if you cant ever get more than a hundred or so?
[glow=red,2,300]The only thing I can figure here, is that you don't know the proper tactics to use these spells in pvm leveling.[/glow]
- undeaths eternal foe: hardly ever used spell because it already sucks, why nerf it is beyond me
[glow=red,2,300]If a cleric was not using this spell they were not a good cleric, this was a great spell. Although I agree that the nerf in duration was a bit overboard. I think it got all the nerf it needed in the 1.69 patch that stopped it from stacking the ac.[/glow]
- sunbeam: for the undead part, it now does a bit more damage (40 points more, or 1/3 more) but needs a much higher caster lvl to do it. not really a nerf but definitely not a buff. could have lived without the change.
for the other creatures, it went from 18 to 120 which is 6,6x more. for a spell that's intended to be great against undead and rather poor against others this is a pretty unusual shift in balance. should probably scale up equally for both parts, like by 2,5 (max 300 for undead and 45 for others) or so.
[glow=red,2,300]This spell change was meant to give pure casters a boost over the munckin builds, a theme that is seen in many of the spell chnges.[/glow]
- true seeing: as mentioned, its ridiculously shitty now. it needs a much bigger bonus + see invis + ultravision. even before it did nicely the job it was supposed to so I dont agree with anykind of nerf, much less making it utterly useless like this.
[glow=red,2,300]The purpose of the change was to give the rogue/sd a chance at hiding, the base spell allows seeing through hides and move silent, although I agree it should be more of a boost and should have ultra and see invis[/glow]
- greater dispelling: is quite overpowered now, equally powerful dispel as mords disjunction. needs a lvl cap, probably around 20-25.
[glow=red,2,300]Clerics don't have any spell to equate to mords, gtr dispell is the only chance they have at dropping an arcane casters buffs. If the level cap is dropped a high level cleric vs a high level mage means the mage is immune to debuffing.[/glow]
- greater magic fang: the last line says "Level 35/40 = +8 (DR = +10/10)", seeing how it scales up to that point, shouldnt that be +9 to hit/dmg?
[glow=red,2,300]I haven't seen the script on this one so I am not sure if it is intentional or a mistype on the description.[/glow]
