I tried to register on the new forum last night, and it asked me for my email and accepted the password I use here. It then asked me for a user name (I chose this one, of course) and password. When I tried to create a password, under the pretense of proving "I am not a robot" it required me to parrot back a specific positive response to the ad they had, and I couldn't proceed without doing so. I didn't. They may say they're against robots, but it looks like they're trying to make us into them.
I understand that having ads is part of the forums being free, but we shouldn't have to agree with them or give responses that are linked to our accounts or our emails. In this case, it was a car insurance company that markets itself as being "progressive" but doesn't seem to want us to have a choice. Proboards should fix this.
