I am thinking of making a considerable change to shops in Dominia.
Since we cannot recall to a specific place other than Shandy, and since Clan Halls and a few Unique shops (Theives Guild, Mages Guild, Holden, etc.) offer the oddball, unique things, I was thinking of getting rid of ALL OTHER shops and placing the bulk of the gear, items and supplies in Shandy.
Any thoughts on this?

Are you saying that all shops- holden, TG, clans etc would either be removed or moved into shandy, I can see two sides to this it makes it easier for players to buy gear etc. but that would change some of the dynamics to the role play aspects.
or are you talking that the miscellaneous shops, Dan the man, odd people in Stoneridge, Tyriun Dun, Etc that don't really add anything extra to the server just if your in the area already they are available. those would be removed and the rest would be left where they currently reside?

I guess I was not clear. The oddball and unique shops (such as Clan shops, Mage Guild, Theives Guild, Holdens Wares, bars- etc.) would STAY.
However, the more I think about it, the more I wanting to simply things.
So, for the moment, skip shops like TG, MG and Clans and lets talk about all the other shops. I will classify these as general, equipment and bars.
* Bars sell basic potions and booze and some sundries (fire kits, heal kits etc.). They buy nothing. * General stores sell the same things as bars (except no booze) but add things like torches, traps, wider array of potions, sometimes spells and whatever other players sell to them before a reboot. The buy almost everything (except exploitable items) * Equipment shops are specific to armor and weapons. They typically only buy said equipment.
Dominia is currently tiered to have these shops sell progressivly more powerful or unique items the further from Shandy a player gets. Though I like this setup, its rather cumbersome when attempting to make changes (e.g. upgrade items, increase buying/selling margins, etc.) and I am looking to simplify things.
My first thought was to get rid of all these other shops and offer all items that could be obtained by them in Shandy. Since there are NO shops close (relatively speaking) to a farming area, though the concept of farming and selling or walking back to resupply is there, most recall and head to Shandy or TG so I did not see an issue. However, the more I think about it, the more I don't like the void the removal of these shops would create.
This is my dilemma and to which I am asking for feedback.

Personally, I only buy potions, rest kits, spells, and the occasional bag. Only time I buy anything else would be to get craft components. I am in favor of bringing all the armor and weapon shops close to shandy. I think only noobs use them because they don't know where to farm gear yet.

So then I would add- is there any value in even USING armor/weapon shops?
Besides the craft items- gear is better when farmed anyway- so whats the point?
