Well it's been a long time coming. I've been quite inactive, especially in the ONLINE sense, for almost a year. Life has caught up with me, and Neverwinter took the back burner. I'm not terribly surprised, though in my more affectionate moments with the game I feel a little bad I have at times neglected Redemption.
Well, for the better part of 6 years, a significant fraction of my life I should mention, I've been an admin for Redemption. Not bad on the resume. I'm not here to brag though. Redemption has impacted my life significantly, more than is considered "normal" to admit for a video game, that's for sure. I learned rather advanced computing skills that will help me in my career, I made friends, I made hours upon hours of fun times running live quests and designing quests to build and implement.
I have two major "Thank You's" I need to throw out. The first goes to the former half of my time as admin, and that goes to Shai'tan. We met in middle school and rather shortly afterward, Neverwinter was released and we were working on it.
My second, and a big one, has to go to Helm. If we were all the lifeblood of Redemption for the past two and a half years, Helm was most definitely the heart. He's been a little busy of late (and with good reason!), but that's ok, he's cool. Though we haven't spoken much in the past few months, he was about as close as I could come to a friend on the Internet, having never actually met the guy. Too bad I'm so rarely wandering around Ohio...
Oh, there's a few more. A minor thank you to Reaper, for originially inviting me to work on Redemption. To this day I curse you for being lazy afterwards and not letting me fully in on the project, but eventually I took full control and I had a blast. Causally, I am forced to give thanks.
And a last, and largest, one to the PLAYERS. You guys made Redemption, I didn't. Between me, Helm, Shai'tan, Reaper, Arioch, Cypher, Xochiphilli, Thanos, FrostFirus, Aranan, and the other DMs I may be forgetting, we created the skeleton of Redemption. The players made it a living, breathing organism, and I cannot thank all of you enough for choosing our module over the many, many others. Thanks for enjoying Redemption!
I suppose I shouldn't drag this on too long. We could go for a personal aspect.
Under the veil of "Mess" or "The Messiah," I much prefer the former in recent years, since I was once accused of having a GOD COMPLEX (Sorry good sir, for being a god-like organism in a world of my creation, and daring to call myself after an established RP name).
My name is ACTUALLY Matthew Pacitto (before you wonder, yeah, I'm HALF Italian). I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and to the surprise of some, I'm only 21 years old (that means I was 15 years old when Reaper and I created Redemption). I'm currently studying Honours Biology at the University of Ottawa (though over the course of my university career I've switched around my program quite a bit), and I'm entering my fourth year in one week. I plan on going into teaching, at the high-high school level (grade 11-12) or the undergraduate level, it depends how things play out.
As far as the future goes, Redemption as it is will be transferred to Helm FULLY. He is now the absolute controller of Redemption and ANYthing he says goes. He's been hosting for a year or so now, so not a lot will change physically. I don't think RD will never truly disappear from my mind. I'll probably sign on. Heck, maybe they'll even let me keep my forum account for a while. In the end, it's up to the NEW boss. But I can assure you you're all in excellent hands (no mom jokes this time?).
As far as future projects go, I have been invited to attempt a modding project for the game Crysis due to be released in November 2007 or something...I haven't accepted the offer because I don't know if I'll have time. Officially, the NWN2 Redemption project is null as far as *I* say, because the game was in my opinion a monumental failure.
And for future personal interaction, I've got MSN, and I'm on Facebook too (that vile program!). If you feel like keeping in touch throw me an email at the raijen_43 account or include a personal message on FB. I'll be around!
So, this is Mess, signing off after 6(ish) years.
