So I have been playing around with mining, how do you use the furnace? Everything I put into it turns to useless goo.

the recipes have not been released yet and in fact, this MAY (stress the word may) be slated for the professions update.
The amalgamation furnace requires a specific combination of items in order to work correctly. It will transform metals into precious metals.
