Redemption is a great server. Although part of diminishing numbers is that everything that can be done has been done. This has not happened yet for this wipe but it is only a matter of time before people are soloing through the Underdark. After people make every build two times over, just to make sure its right, numbers will drop off... again.
In a way some of the server improvements that are boosting server population may in fact speed this. Allowing remorts in charter creation cuts 40 levels off of grinding. And having bosses available for killing is great for getting gear, but also speeds the progression to having done everything. I can see it coming already, the other day in Ragnarok someone had a troll that was fighting 6 eternal warriors without being hurt. Soloing a boss it almost within reach for some, but most of us veterans only need two people. One Tank, One Caster, One Dead Boss. More people helps and makes it faster, and some bosses are much harder then others. But that combination of two is what is needed for a successful run, you just need to keep those two alive that make the run possible.
In the past this problem has been solved by, nerfing gear, nerfing spells, and server wipes. These tend to anger, and annoy the player base. There are two solutions that could be implemented that would keep players interested longer without punishing them. Harder areas, and extending the level range to 60.
I feel that areas like Tryn Dun, are a good start, and should keep the high level alts interested for a good while, but we need more of them. Especially if we start to reach for the end of Tryn Dun.
Could we consider something like a portal at the end of all the boss areas that port to a city for uber epic alts. The city could be the main city of the Ethereal plane. And from it you could either explore that plane or go to the other planes, perhaps even have entrances to the elemental planes, though their corresponding sections of elemental canyon as well.
The areas should be impossibly hard, because impossible challenges are only impossible till enough people try and someone finds a way, and makes it look easy.
