One of my favorites (although gear and crit immunities make it less useful on RD than some other servers) is the Fighter/Weapon Master/Dwarf Defender
Fighter 1-7 followed by DD 1-10 followed by WM 1-7 followed by DD 11-26
put the minimum of 13 in dex and int to get the WM and DD requirements
Raise Con to 21 to get the Epic Damage Reductions
Everything else goes into Str
You will end up with a damage reduction of 30 for all physical damage without any gear, unfortunately the +20/20 type items don't stack with this but damage resistance does stack with it so if you pick up a greater swordsman belt you are not taking any slashing damage until it breaks 50 in a single hit
You will also have a slight bonus to hit and damage along with an increased crit multiplier and increased crit threat range.
Take a ton of Epic Energy Resist feats and you will be immune to all but the nastiest of foes.

An old faithful that works anywhere....... Sorcerer/PaleMaster/Paladin (or fighter for servers that don't allow alignment changes)
Sorcerer 1-3 followed by PM 1-10 back to Sorcerer 4-29 finished with Paladin 1
Forget about all your stats except 10 in INT for skills, take CHA up to 19 and all the rest in CON.
At that last level of Paladin or Fighter max out Discipline to avoid those annoying KD and disarms.
If you take Paladin instead of fighter the CHA bonus will add to all your saves.
You end up with a great defensive build that can dish out a shload of damage through shields and the standby spells like IGMS.
Once you are buffed up it takes minimal work to drop just about any enemy, especially the melee attackers that will just beat themself to death on your shield spells.

I hear more and more about the palemaster class, and I've never actually played one. I'll have to give this one a try! On a side note, does the PM class count as caster levels for the sorcerer?

Pale Master levels do not count toward caster level. Every odd level though you'll gain additional spells per day (but not new spells). And note that your DD will end up with 27 DR rather than 30, Ben, since you're only going up to 26 DD. Good build though regardess ONe of my ol' favorites was the Barbarian/Bard/RDD. Very high strength, decent ab and damage (especially now that Rages have been fixed). 10 Rdd will give you the fire/paralysis immunity, increased stats, and +4 natural ac. Bard of course is just to qualify for Rdd and allow you to max tumble and spellcraft, and grab some of the almighty UMD skill. Just throw some Terrifying Rage in there any you're ready to crack some skulls!

righto on the DR, 27 is the max with 26 levels of DD.
