I don't know if any of you watched the women's 1.4km cross country sprint classic and paid attention to the extraordinary feat of Slovenia's Petra Majdič... but I thought I'd share this with all of you uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/18022010/58/winter-olympics-norway-bjoergen-wins-gold.htmlNow to top it off, this report is a little wrong in the end. Later they found out she actually had 4 broken ribs and damaged lungs, as can be read here www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/310031,majdic-won-olympic-medal-with-four-broken-ribs-and-damaged-lung.html It really was amazing... I watched mostly the whole thing and how she made it is beyond me. After getting through the finish line she practically collapsed from pain and exhaustion, she wasn't even able to stand without help. And yet she gave out all interviews (both English and Slovene), went to the press conference and did all other things that were expected of her. During the interviews you could see the immense pain on her face and yet she never commented on it and fulfilled her role perfectly. When the camera zoomed out you could see that someone had to support her so she didn't topple over during the interview... In the end she actually came to get her medal in a wheelchair. Where do some people get enough strength to perform such amazing feats? Going through all that and still getting a bronze medal while so badly injured that the doctors say she shouldn't even fly home... If real life had a Hall of Heroes, she should definitely be in there.

"Norway's Marit Bjoergen easily won...." easily? EASILY? what the hell, if it was so easy then how come she was only two steps (1.8s) faster than a seriously injured person? easy my ass, if Petra wasnt injured she would have won by a mile. easily. the only video I could find is this: www.genspot.com/video-283069/petra-majdic-padec-na-olimpijskih.aspxwhat the hell are those canadians doing? its a huge f***ing hole and they've left it unsecured like that? and this after somebody already died on their tracks.... the security engineer said they cant secure every little pine tree and that this wasnt a dangerous spot. then went on to bitch how the polish contestant was asking him to make some adjustments for greater safety, which made him sound like a whiny idiot loser who hates his job, performs just as much of his duties as is needed to not get fired and doesnt give a damn if his lazy ass gets people killed. also, I hear there's now a new saying: "When Chuck Norris cant go on, Petra Majdič persists" congratulations to Petra for her persistance!

I wonder what would've happened if that actually was a "dangerous spot"... But really, am I the only one who thinks that lately Olympic games think too much about money and not enough about the safety of the participants? If you're the organizer, you need to spend some extra expenses to make sure nobody frikkin dies on your track. I mean, the Chinese moved 2 whole villages, turned off (or upgraded, or moved) most of their factories and so on...

No you're not the only one who thinks that, sadly it seems that's exactly the case :S I dont know what would have happened if it was a dangerous spot.... the track where that contestant died (and countless have crashed since then) is apparently not dangerous either (yes, the organizers actually said that the track isnt dangerous). so I dont know what qualifies as dangerous? maybe if the track was made of dynamite and when they crashed, their head would bash against a rock, producing a spark which would blow up half of vancouver?
