Well. My PC just got a power surge. Using a craptop with harddisk damage to post. Cache leaks and crashes me every 10 minutes or so. Will be looking at a new system within the next couple of weeks. Its about time but the timing blows. Somebody pass me a tissue.

Karma, if you pop back on to read this, i recall Try having body-parts for your PC (or even the guts of one) that he was willing to give to someone. Possibly this may be of interest to you???

Motherboard, CPU and some ram yes. As long as someone else handles the shipping cost I can get that out.

Shipping cost ain't a problem. I recall the post but it was of no use to me then Considering the talk I had with Tyr mere hours before my comp went pop, ironic to say the least. Hook me up with some details of what's available. I'll gladly pay shipping + can work out a price. I don't feel right about taking even a spare rig for free

2.4 Ghz Pentium 4, with Asus P4S8X Motherboard, 1 GB DDR ram (3 sticks). Not the greatest in the world but it served me pretty well. If you still have a Hard Drive and Video Card we are golden. If you need any cables or anything I've got some. I also still have its disk. If you give me a couple of days I can pony up a spare HDD as well.
My friend from Australia sent me his old hardware once upon a time, would be nice to be able to return the favor to someone who needs it. When he sent me stuff I usually got it in 3 to 5 days.
I know you said you were going to buy a new system but this could be a much cheaper alternative if you were stretching to buy your new machine.

Do other games look good? Try jumping the refresh rate of your monitor up.
Tyr has Winders 7, he can speak more about it than I.

Don't use compatibility mode for XP. NWN works just good on windows 7. Besides, if you want to use compatibility mode for XP, go to Microsoft and download their virtualization tools for windows XP (they are easy to install and are actually pretty good at what they are supposed to do ). Which graphic card do you have? Which drivers? Laptop or PC? I've been using Win 7 for a long while now (the RC version) on both a laptop and a PC and it worked fine, I had to revert to older video drivers on my laptop though (something similar happened - black lines all over the place (horizontal most of the time, once or twice they were vertical though). If nothing of the above works, try going in windowed mode. You can do that by changing the nwn.ini (under [Config] set FullScreen=0) and setting your resolution down from the max. If you have maximum resolution enabled the game will fullscreen automatically! Downgrade the resolution, if it's still not in windowed mode, press alt+enter to go windowed. I actually prefer to play that way, makes easier to watch other stuff etc. Report back on what you managed to do

when i set fullscreen to 0 it did not put it in windows modes it was stell full screen and hitting alt enter just minimized nwn

Compatibility mode is necessary for me. Because the play mode does work fine without it. However the DM mode for me usually doesn't without going into compatibility. Something else to keep in mind Shorts is that under windows 7 you are using more video memory than if you were on xp.

Your specs would be nice shorts. We would need at least the following things to be able to adress the issue.
OS: (Windows 7 pro? latest updates?) computer: PC or laptop? graphic card: graphic card drivers: what you already did:
Did you try to play in windowed mode? That did the trick for me.

I have the same arrangement on my laptop. The latest drivers provided by Nvidia are crap (at least were for me). I tried a few things with gameguru.com and stuff like that (modified and opened drivers) but nothing worked for me at that point. Maybe some new stuff has been posted there that'll actually work.
I downgraded to some older drivers (don't have my laptop with me right now so I can't check, I'll get back at you with that tomorrow) and it worked fine then.
For windowed mode: you did change the nwn.ini right? and you did use a resolution that's not your max? Try going for an even lower resolution (perhaps go for 1024x786 or something) and check if it works then.
