I would like to see several changes about pvp fights. I’m sure that many players will share my view.
1. When killed, a players should have 3 options: (a) respawn (b) being resurrected within 30 sec, (c) or being auto ported to another area (a Hall of the Death, for instance. From there, people could have the option to take few portals, like “Stoneridge” or “Clan Hall”. The main argument for (c) is to stop whining when people aren’t resurrected when killed. Also, I like the idea of fighting for an area.
2. The killer flag should be a reward, not a burden. I don’t think we should be seen as a killer if we win a noble fight. The killer flag should be converted in a “seal” or a “medal” and should be collectable.

that would be so kool and then if you get so many of them you can trad them in for , gold, xp, or even a qp,

side thought if you kill a towns parson then you get the old bad KF...... then you are punished.

Not bad Imhotep, not bad. I, personally, don't like the whole "leaving a corpse behind with everything not equipped" thing. But it's the way it is here, so we rez (except the one that stopped rezzing his PKs). The fighting for an area thing doesn't work. There's no real way to enforce it. It leads to two parties trying to kill the same mob instead of one party getting max party exp. As for the killer flag, oh, the killer flag..we started that "debate" a while back and it just died. redemptionmod.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=suggestions&action=display&thread=379I played on a server that rewarded exp and/or gold for a PK. Instead of a KF, the person had a bounty on their head. When killed, the person with the bounty on them went to jail for a certain period, maybe 5-15 minutes, and the person that cashed in on the bounty was rewarded.

#1 could not be a user GUI selection. It would have to be worked into a conversation that a player saw only after death, like when a newbie enters RD now. But this sorta defeats the purpose of waiting for a rez if you are automatically sent to an area where you have to engage in a conversation where one of the options was to wait for a rez. Just to present the flip side of things, one could argue that players have those options now with the regular GUI menu (respawn, wait for assistance, leave the game) As Tony stated, the discussion on the Killer Flag has been brought up and subsequently just petered off. Something that can still be discussed however- I will point out that one of the main arguments at the time was the power of Falknirs KD bolt. This is now pretty much mute with remorts.

I would like to see level restrictions apply to the hunting of killers (not in clan battles of course). As Fesick the Giant says, "my way is not very sporting". Seeing a 40 remort kill a 12 with a KF is laughable--the person with the flag had to be successful in his build and tactics for his range, but the avenger doesn't have to be.

if ur a killer i like the idea of peeps beeing able to attack you whenever they feel like it if ur in PVP......the KF hasn't realy been much of a problem, is why it petered out, not many are interested in changing it..... i know Kindred see the KF as a badge of honor....i know if i don't have one i feel a lil to clean and i have to go kil someone i do hate the lose all in inventory thing if respawn is clicked...would like to see that changed

With this discussion I was having a thought. The killer flag system should be dropped except for killing citizens. Make it much harder to avoid the consequences of having a KF.
For clan killing this can be turned into a benefit for the clan. If you PK enough people allow the alter to reward you in some way, in exchange for the ex. Kindred Medal. The alter could provide gold items and other rewards. This would also be a good way to get clan custom gear. This of course would have to account for the PKing of in range enemies. A nicety would be telling or not a Remort killed a Non-remort.

There was something like this drawn up and presented some time ago (will dig through my notes today and find it). There was also a point system drawn up and paritally enacted/tested though never rolled out (will dig that out as well).
The fact that neither has never been implemented is NOT necessairly an indication that nothing will happen with the suggestions presented. Just that other things took presidence at the time. It sounds like something that is VERY do-able so lets dust some of these things off and look at them more closely (commented directed to DM team). ;D

I think this would be the encouragement PvP has needed if there is much more of possible rewards. With a high enough amount of PKs we could even go as far as to have a QP awarded. This would take quite a few kills though.

You do? Are you (and others) aware that then you (and many others), would be killed EVERY 15 minutes by chars up to 8lvls higher, just so ppl could get these rewards faster? I agree that the KF shouldnt be a punishment like it is now, but it also shouldnt bring rewards so great that people will kill just to get the reward.

This is something the Kindred do anyways, not to mention the Eclipse when at war. People would still have to obey the rules and that would include griefing. Yes the system has problems as attacking allies for gear and such and could be exploited by someone throwing a match.
This is up to the DM's to make sure anything doesn't get exploited. Simple enough, attach it to the clan wars system and make it something that can be turned on and off with a DM tool, this way a reset or copyover is not necessary. Also it could be set to only give reward when the opposing clan person is killed.
This is all academic thinking anyways. No one has said it will be done. Rest assured that unless there is an official state of war a system like this would affect no one but the clans at war....
Tino has mentioned that in the past that people on the server travelled with TS or Invis expecting PvP. I also remember Tony saying that this server is "Teddy Bear" compared to the older days of RD and other places he's been.

I would really like to see more pvp. as much as i love RD i am starting to get board. more pvp like every 15 min would really help with that i think
