Here are some suggestions to avoid discouraging fresh players to play on our server
1. Have newbie castle behind the walls of Stoneridge, close to the recall area. 2. Make the sewer a level 2-5 area. 3. Make the wizard lab basement a lv 5-9 area. 4. Have a NPC at recall to give tons of information about Redemption. Clans, areas to level, where to go for crafting, where to sell stuff, etc. I know we can find those info eleswhere, but I think it could be a good idea to regroup those info on a single NPC.
Other suggestions?

I think there is a confusion here Tempus. This is not for myself or for the people on this forum (we know pretty much where to go), but for people who might log for the first time on server. What can we change/add to the server to help them?
For instance, newbie areas should be next to the recall area not outside the walls. When they log, people want to kill some stuff. The first thing they see is the sewer. They will go there and die, logoff and not coming back.

FYI Tempus, as a new player back in Dec I knew nothing about the areas to get experience nor where to go. As a result my first character was killed several times. By the weak goblins, bandits by crypt, and the skeletons in the crypt. No one told me of the Newbie castle nor how to gain experience to keep from getting killed. To say the least I was pretty frustrated and was going to look eslewhere to play. I feel it was just luck that finally someone took me in hand and showed me the newbie castle and helped to equip me better to stay alive. I am sure that I was not the only new player to experience this. You as someone who has played this game for several month or years, your knowledge of the areas, where to get quests is pretty good but as someone first visiting this site that knowledge is missing. During my fisrt few hours of play I was the only one on the server. Just where is a newbie supposed to get this great knowledge from when there is no one to help. I read the signs at the recall point BUT there was nothing to help me play posted on the signs. All I could do was roam around and getting frustrated, repeatedly killed, respawn then get killed again. Not a good first impression. How about a newbie letter that can be given to character at the checker to help explain things and help the newbie on the right path to fun and adventure.

There is a specific sign that states what lvl range Bugbears are. If they can't read the sign, it's their own fault. I will begin to make an outlined book describing the areas & what lvl range they are tuned for AFTER all the current bs is fixed.

I just read this and its a little old but speaking of new players i know myself had a lot of redemption experience before i came back to play but with all the new changes it was still refreshing to have Raven show me where the new castle was because well stoneridge isn't as friendly as Shandalar once was. If not re map all these things just put way markers for newbie castle on the map that everyone can see. In the outskirts of East Stone Ridge just unfog the mini map and put an icon on Newbie tower. I think this little bit will help keep new players hooked. Just my two cents take it, leave it, or throw it at people.

Good points and I TOTALLY understand now the drive of the thread. As Hecate points out, some things are indeed in text (on signs and in conversations) that will assist players- all they need to do is read and pay attention. On the other hand, there ARE a few things that could be done to assist the new player in a cleaner, less text driven way (i.e. posts before mine). I would support and build them but recognize there are a few other things that are more pressing and we dont want more problems until older ones are ironed out. Until then, please be aware of new players and offer them assistance in any way you see fit. I know most of us ARE quite helpful already...
