This probably isn't interesting to most of you but still  As some of you might know, I am training "Canne de combat" (a swordfighting technique from France that uses a one handed sword or a walking stick - canne - as a weapon). The canne is 95cm long and 100g heavy.  This is a picture of the canne sword with which we use this technique (basically its a sword hidden in a walking stick) - it can be used with rapiers and quite some other swords (like the viking sword, longsword, bastard sword, scottish sword, schivona, tai chi chuan swords etc.) too though (but it was based on a sword like this)  We of course use sticks at our trainings (it's safer ) The technique itself isn't based on stabbing or chopping but rather on cutting your opponent, thus disabling and not killing him. We use a lot of quick, circular movements, a lot of turning/spinning and quite some jumps. We also use both hands since you later on move to two-weapon fighting or to a "baton" - a heavier, two handed version of the canne (140cm and 400g - it is the European answer to the famous quarterstaff). Now, for starters we have Canne de combat as a sport (most of what I'm training is sport) which only uses the canne in the fight (no kicking etc.), doesn't use stabbing and isn't that rough since you have control over your attacks and stop them before you hit your opponent in the head. At the sport version you only use one canne in the fight. However, there is a "real" Canne de combat too, where you use kicks (most of them are derived from Savate - French boxing - and some come from kickbox). Now in the "real" Canne de combat you also use kicks, stabbing, tripping etc... and you can use either one canne, two cannes or a baton. Anyway, here is a movie that starts with showing the real basics (the basic attacks), goes on with showing a few linked attacks, attacks while moving around the opponent, attacks with a spin, attacks with a jump (usually involve a spin too) and in the end has a heavily slowed-down fight so it's easier to see whats going on (the guy who's teaching me can start attacking you with a constant of about 3 attacks per second and can keep on that attack rate for almost half a minute - it's impossible to block all those attacks (just for the kicks of it, 3 attacks in a second means 18 attacks per round in NWN terms ) - he was 2nd in the world championship). video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=5692910863160435714So this fight might seem slow but when you look at real fights you don't actually see whats really happening... so this one is better for a show&tell.
