P.S- If these ideas all fail as well, I will load the data on the wifes PC and start usinig that. If you put it on her PC does that mean she will come back and play?  ? |

This might be a really stupid idea, but have you tried to put the hard drive in another computer and trying to install there? That would at least help you pinpoint the location of your problem (maybe it is just the CD drive?). Try putting it in your wife's computer and try to install windows from there (if it works you can just switch HDDs again  ). Or you could try calling the company that provided your hard drive and yell at them for a bit... maybe they'll send someone over to fix the whole thing ^^. |

HA!!! Placing the drive into the wifes PC allowed me to install XP!
I now have it in my PC and am completing the driver installation and updates! Things look good!
On a side note, it WAS still giving me minor issues so took out all the memory and then added one stick back excpet in a different DIMM slot. No more errors have occured. Its possible I never had a HDD issue to begin with and instead, had some memory problems.! I will continue to investigate this matter after all the updates and I've confirmed a successful install.
Looks like another day folks but the bottom line is- Nothing was lost and RD will be up again VERY soon!

UPDATE!!!
Seems about the same time my HDD crashed, the Bioware site was hacked by a virus. They repsponded by taking down the links to all the updates, wiping folks accounts and sending emails to those that had active subscriptions to online community gaming. All attempts to locate a trusted critical update for the 1.69 version of NWN that I need to run CEP 2.2 have been frustrating but I have re-registered (anyone realize that Bioware sold (at least a division of NWN) to EA Gaming? I had to sign up at their stupid site to get into the forums to do some digging) and been able to find a possible WORKING version of the patch. I will finish the download, install and let you all know how things progress.

Might be too late since you said you already found it... but I also found this:

This CEP link is a slow download tho, only 50-100ish kb/s for me...
[Edit] Why not just use the in-game updater? Or if you say they managed to save your data, why not just copy the whole NWN folder from there?

I got it but had to do a full install fresh. The IT guy did NOT get all my data (good thing I had him save the drive). I have none of the data bases and only about 1/2 of the player vault. I will get these tomorrow.
Now- setting up the port forwarding and static IP again..

Been getting the "cannot connect to Master Server, some services may be unavailable" for the last few days. Didn't look like it was affecting anything though (could still see some servers, could connect to chat etc.).
Maybe friends list didn't work or something.

After HOURS of testing and confirming, I just fired her up for good as of 7:40 pm EST.
Check it out.
Note: I am still getting the 'Master Server' issue with Gamespy however, the IP and port should be the same for direct connect if you dont see it listed.

Well everything worked fine for half an hour or so right now... but now the server is offline again :/
It disconnected us both and I can't see it on gamespy or direct connect to it anymore.

HA! I thought the blinking time of 00:00 on my clock meant something.  I should have checked that but did not think about it on my way out the door this morning. It will be up this afternoon when i get home. |
